Some years, Russian mines alone have contributed nearly half of the world’s palladium.

South Africa: Deep Mines and High Output

South Africa’s contribution comes mainly from the Bushveld Complex, one of the richest PGM deposits on Earth. Unlike Russia, which produces palladium mostly alongside nickel, South African mines produce palladium alongside platinum and other PGMs. Mining conditions are complex and deep, but output from this region remains a cornerstone of global supply.

Canada’s palladium production primarily comes from nickel-rich mines in Ontario and Quebec. The United States, particularly Montana’s Stillwater mine and its satellite operations, also contributes a significant share. Zimbabwe hosts PGM deposits in the Great Dyke region, adding meaningful production despite smaller overall output.
